RAID IN AUCKLAND
ON AN ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE. By Telegraph.—Press AssocJatifrn. Auckland, Last Night. At about 2.30 o'clock this afternoon two parties of detectives, headed by Chief Detective Marsack and Detective McMahon, raided the premises of Ryan and Degroen, wool brokers, Durham street, and Adams and Phillpott, house and land agents, Queen street, and made a search. It is alleged that they found there instruments of gaming, and books which .appear to be records of betting transactions. Alf Adams and Charles Phillpott were arrested on a charge of keeping a common gaming house, arid George Kevin, clerk, with assisting in the management of a gaming house. At Ryan and Degroen's Alf Degroen was arrested on a similar charge, and Harry Nicoll charged with assisting. Six other persons were charged with being found in a common gaming house. I
