His Worship non-suited plaintiff in the case A. Allen v. Alleman. The claim was for the value of outbuildings, store ano, tank, which was on a farm sold by plaintiff to defendant. The plaintiff claimed he bad stipulated before tile sale that the articles mentioned did not go with the farm. He admitted that that he had not made an actual demand fur the return of the articles, but had spoken to defendant on several occasions, but each time the defendant walked away and would not listen. His Worship said that so far no actual demand had been made, and the application of defendant for a non-suit would be "ranted. Some time ago a good deal was heard of the early attention that was given to the despatch of goods arriving at the breakwater and consigned to the country; in fact the railway were supposed to have adopted a motto which, in plain English, meant "Quick Despatch." Evictaitly the matter of registration of the motto was forgotten, likewise the motto itself, for although the Rosamond arrived in Xew Plymouth on Saturday morning, goods shipped by her had not left Xew Plymouth for their destination on Wednesday morning, and on enquiries being made the reply was that if the goods had arrived they might be out on the afternoon train. Some months ago the Public Works Department took some measurements at t!ie L'ost Office with a view to the erection of a room so that those requiring; to use the telephone could do so without the public passing along the street hearing all that was jroinpr on. The whole thing would not mean more than a week's work for a tradesman, but no move has been made in the direction of construction. Taihoa te whenukuta. Messrs. Con. O'Rullivan and H. E. Cattiev had a narrow escape yesterday morning from a serious accident whilst driving into Waitara from Uruti. When just opposite Manukori'ni pah a little native girl suddenly jumped off the bank on <:o the footpath, startling the horse, the result being rn upset. Both occupants of the vehicle received some rather severe cuts and a shaking, in addition to which the gig was badly damaged. The work of service connections is being delayed owing to material from Wellington taking so long to reach Waitara. from New Flymoutli. The Band are holding a garden party in Mr. M. Jones' grounds this afternoon. Given a fine day the outing should be an enjoyable one. Messrs. Jenkins and Made, of Wellington. received the order of the Borough Council for the supply of pipes and fittings.
