EARTHQUAKES IN WESTRALIA. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. Perth, October 18. There were two earthquake shocks at Marble Bar on Saturday. A thunderous noise accompanied the shocks, but the only damage was to crockery. N.S.W. BANKING RETURNS. Sydney, October 18. The State banking averages for the past quarter show a decrease of £576,000 in deposits, but an increase of £1,722,000 in advances. ~j
THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE, Melbourne, October 18. ■ The Federal Cabinet has decided; to cable to the Colonial Office that it considers it preferable for the Imperial Conference to meet prior to the Coronation, about the middle of May. UNION OF THE CHURCHES. • Sydney, October 18. The Anglican General Synod decided to appoint a committee to watch for and, if possible, take advantage of any opportunity of further conference with other bodies with a view to the furtherance of union among Christians.
