Following is tlie High Commissioner's cable under date London, October 15:— Mutton. —The market remains finn; small shipments are expected and prospects are favorable. Canterbury North Island 4d, River Plate 3%d. Lamb.—The market is linn and the stocks on hand are light. No stock will be held over this season. Canterbury 5%t1, other than Canterbury s'4d. Beef.—The market is weak, and stocks heavy. N.Z. hinds I'/od, N.Z. fores 2%<1Butter. —The market is steady, with very good demand for lx»t quality. There is 110 demand and a decline is possible for lower quality. Australian 114s, Danish llSs, Siberian 100s. Cheese—The market is quiet but rather steadier, with no change in prices. Canadian sos. llemp. —The market is lifeless at about the quotations already given, viz., X.Z. good fair spot £24 10s sd, fair £2l 10s, .Manila £24 15s. Forward shipments about the same. Expect no immediate change in the hemp market. The output from Manila for the week was 25.C00 bales. The stock of New Zealand hemp is 343 tons. Cocksfoot.—The market is quiet and buyers are not keen to do business in cocksfoot seed. Bright, clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed (17 lb. per bushel) 70s per cwt. Mr. Newton King has received the following cable from Sydney re price of bides: 'Farthing higher."
