FIRES.
COTTAGE BURNT. . 1 DRUNKEN OCCU'PANTS FIGHTING. By Tekgraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Last Night. At half-past ten to-niglit a fire broke out in a- four-roomed cottage in Grey street owned by the Hon. Capt. Tucker and occupied by a well-known character, Joseph Geddes, and his wife. When the fire was discovered, Geddes and rhis wife, oblivious of- their danger, were engaging in a drunken qiarrel inside, with the doors locked. A passer-by burst in the door and draggell the occupants to the road, where they continued fighting until both were arrested. The house and all its contents were completely destroyed. HOUSE DESTROYED AT WAJONGONA. Our Waiongona correspondent writes that Mr. Drozdowski's house was destroyed by fire shortly after midday yesterday.
