POULTRY SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. There were just one dozen, including one lady, present at the annual meeting of the Taranaki Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society last night. Mr. W. Scott was voted to the chair. The report, which has already been published, was adopted, as was also the balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £1 lis 5d cash in hand, and £4 12s 6d owing for hire of pens. Mr. E. Jackson, secretary Stratford A. and P. Society, wrote accepting terms of hire of society's pens. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr. S. Teed; president, Mr. W. Hall (Lepperton); vice-presidents, Messrs Jenkinson (Eltham), H. Campbell (Stratford), J. Sutherland (Inglewood), H. J. Gilbert (New Plymouth), B. E. Chappell (Waitara), S. Olliver (Sentry Hill) 5 the election of secretary was left to the incoming committee, Mr. Hobbs agreeing to retain the appointment for a month; treasurer, Mr. H. J. Gilbert (reelected); poultry committee, Messrs. W. Scott, P. Boulton, A. T. Moore and Lister; pigeon committee, Messrs. S. Greene, A. Lovegrove, H. J. Moverley and E. Ward; industries committee Miss Street, Messrs. P. W. Sandford, Ken Webster, H. J. Hobbs; auditor, Mr. V. H. Beal (re-elected). The secretary (Mr. H. J. Hobbs) was voted a bonus of £2 10s in addition to the usual honorarium of £lO. In speaking to the motion, the chairman referred in eulogistic terms to the valuably work done by the retiring secretary. Votes of thanks to the outgoing officers, to the [Garrison Band, to Mr. Francis for the use of his room for meetings, to donors of special prizes, and all who had assisted at the last show, and to the press concluded the meeting.
