DISTRICT NEWS.
TOKO. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) We are having this month a good spell of wet weather, making up no doubt for the dryness of September, and though feed is" not scarce, we now require some heat in the ground to make the grass really plentiful. The creameries are running full time. Milk is plentiful -and farmers are looking forward to a good season. A Gun Club has been formed in Toko with a membership of about thirty, and judging by the banging that goes on on Thursday afternoons the clay birds must be having a ibad time. ■ Two matches have 'been fired against Stratford, but 'though beaten both times Toko was not disgraced. The Hall Committee are working hard to .get everything in order for the new hall. About £2OO have been promised and when this is collected a start will be made with the work of erection. The site chosen is at the corner of the road leading to the station. The School Committee have made several improvements in the school grounds, putting up new fences, shifting old ones, and planting a large number of shelter; and ornamental trees and hedges. In a few years the grounds should be a credit to the district.
