CYCLE ROAD RACE.

WON BY R TAPP. The road race which took place yesterday was an endurance test of a nature not contemplated by the promoters, for the .competitors had 'heavy roads and a high wind to contend with. * The course was from New Plymouth to Inglewood by the Junction road and home by way of the Mountain road, a distance of about thirty miles. -Some of the competitors soon had enough, but mo>t of them finished. One of them, a lad named Warm, was quite exhausted when he completed his journey, but Mr. L. D. Me Ivor soon brought him to his be*r;n<rs| using all of those effective measures that are as A.B.C. to the experienced athlete. The placing and time occupied are as follows:

R. Tapp (I7min), 1 hour 53min 30sec, 1; G. Bell (lOmin), 1 hour 47min 32sec, 2; M. Julian (4min). 1 hour 43min 31« ec, '■>; W. Thomas (LOmin) 1 hour 50min 31 sec, -t; L. Leary (lSmin) 2 hours Omin lv>?ec, 5; W. Roebuck (2min) I hour 45 mm 32sec. 6; J .Skipper (9min), 1 hour 53min 50sec, 7

M. Julian put up the fastest time and won the gold medal, whilst the silver medal for second fastest time was Wf >u by W. Roebuck. There w\< a crowd of about a hundred sppf-ators at the Red House Hotel corner to xee the finiil.
