Betts received from the Choir a greenstone cross mounted with gold. The Rev. Thompson, in making the presentation, expressed, on behalf of the Choir, Guild and congregation the best wishes for the success and prosperity of the recipients. The Stratford Gun Club are holding a sweepstake on the 27th inst. Mr. L. S. Robertson, the well-known wrestler, leaves Stratford on Tuesday to take up his residence at Mangorei. After considerable delay the efforts oi aa energetic few in reading "the highways and byways" resulted in sufficient members of the Stratford Lawn Tennis, Club being mustered to constitute a quorum at the annual meeting last night. Mr. V. Crawshaw was elected seretary. The local Druids' Lodge are holding a plain and fancy dress ball on the 2Gth inst. | The new Licensing Bill is bidding fail j to become a more popular topic of public discussion than even "Mr. Hine's, charges," though the Premier's motion in committee has given the latter a fresh stimulus.
