HOLY TRINITY, TE HENUI.
SALE OP WORK. The weather conditions were the reverse of pleasant yesterday afternoon, when the ladies of Te Henui parish held a sale of work in the Anglican schoolroom at Te Henui, for the purpose ot raising money for the vicarage and backblocks mission funds. The ladies of the whole parish had been working hard for some tir. e past, with the result that the excellent display of goods offered for sale yesterday represented not only the best of needlework and other articles dear to the feminine mind, but also the united effort of the parish, in proof of which was the well-laden stall provided and presided over by Bell Block workers, whose assistance was warmly welcomed. The sale of work was officially declared open—after it had been in full and busy operation for some time—by the Rev. P. G. Evans, who congratulated Te Henui folk on the successful result of their labors so far, and hoped the financial result would be all that the promoters had wished and worked for. All the usual stalls were there, and they were all well stocked and apparently well patronised. The attendance was good. The following is a list of the stalls and stallholders, but the report would be quite incomplete unless it included mention of the incumbent, the Rev. Mr. Kempthorne, who appeared to be aiding wherever required: Bell Block stall, Mesdames Hoby and Sal way j produce, Mesdames E. Griffiths and Somerset Smith and Miss Martin; sweets, Misses Matthews, and Cut* field; bran tub, Mrs. C. S. Rennell; fancy, Mrs. Pox and Miss Pratt; handkerchief, Misses Kyngdon, Foote and Jackson; plain needlework, Mesdames Kempthorne and Foote; afternoon tea, Mesdames Tisch, Petch and Arden, Misses Cutfield, Pote, Irigley, Street and Oxenham; Bell Block bran tub, Mrs. and Miss Holmes. Miss Wilson, the secretary, was cashier. There was a very good evening attendance, when business was brisk. Additional enjoyment was derived from the several pianoforte solos played by Miss Warren, a pianoforte duet by that lady and Miss M. Evans, and sketches by Miss Willis.
