WORKERS' COMPENSATION BILL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At a largely-attiMijled meeting rif ihe waterside workers at Lyttelton it was decided to protest agaipst tV rk-ioUon .if clause 14 of the Workers' Compensation Act, 11)08, as proposed in the amending Bill. NEXT BAND CONTEST. Gisborne, Last Night. The annual meeting of the Gisborm City Band, held to-night, was attended bv many leading citizens. A motion was passed inviting the North Island Association to hold the 1912 contest at Gisborne. The necessary guarantee of £SOO wis raised by the acting-Mayor (Mr. William Pettie) in half an hour to-drfy, and he'states that lie could get £IOOO if required. An influential committee of lending citizens was appointed to take initial steps.
