In the House of Representatives, the Postmaster-General announced that in future as far as stamps were concerned the States' barrier would be non-existent, as the moment each State of the Commonwealth was presented with a complete set of Australian stamps, notice would be given of a Bill providing for penny postage with the Commonwealth and also with India, Egypt, New Zealand, Fiji, and any other country desirous of reciprocating.
