ANNUAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Night. The Baptist Union devoted to-day to missionary work. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Baptist Missionary Society was held this morning, when various encouraging reports were adopted. The treasurer reported that the revcnue for the year in general funds'was ,t-!09o. Auckland contributed £533, Wellington £529, Canterbury £'29o, and Otago £457, and the Baptist Women's 'Society £SO. The report showed a debit balance of £ll4. It was urged that India's present state of transition was an opportunity |or Baptist evangelisation which might not occur again. A missionary conversazione was held in the afternoon. The speakers were the president (Rev. William Hay), Rev. •). Tackle, and Dr. North. A public missionary meeting was held in the evening, Dr. T. Pettit presiding. A welcome was accorded Dr. and .Mrs. Charles North, recently returned from Eastern Bengal, and a farewell was given to Mr. and Mrs. Tnkle and Dr. Pettit, who are soon returning there, the latter as medical missioner. The conference will be brought to a close tomorrow night.
