NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The following report will be presented to the annual meeting of the New Plymouth Club, to be held on Friday evening:— The report to be presented states that the club's overdraft and outstanding accounts this year appear as £ll3 Is 5d and £9 18s 9d—£l23 Os 2d; last year £l4O 12s 4d and £l9 0s 9d—£los 13s Id, an improvement of £42 12s lid. The balance-sheet shows a surplus of assets over liabilities of £3Bl 7s lOd; members will note that this year the accounts were balanced on September 30, last year on August 31. The membership is now: Tlaying members 87 (ladies 45, men 42); croquet members 29, honorary members 70 (ladies 57, men 13). Comparing with last year, playing members—Ladies decrease 5, men increase, 7; croquet members unaltered; hbn-j orary members —ladies increase 9, men 2. Members are reminded of the allow-1 ance made in subscriptions if paid be j fore December 1. Members wishing to j resign must give notice in writing. The annual Taranaki Championship Meeting was held on the courts, the profit resulting ( £l3 14s) going to the club's funds. The following club matches were played during the season: — Ladies' Championship Singles, Miss Brewster; Men's Championship Singles Mr. J. C. Nicholson; Ladies' Handicap Singles, Miss Briewster; Men's Handicap Singles, Mr. J. •C. Nicholson. The club is indebted to Messrs. F. and L. J. Taylor, and E. Griffiths for kindly donating club trophies; also to Drs. Leatham, Fookes, and Home, and Mr. J. C. Nicholson 1 for donations to tournament. The following club matches were played:— Stratford (a win), Fitzroy (a win), Inglewood (a win), and Waitara (a win). Croquet: Club matches, Championship and Handicap Singles, Mr. Fitzherbert; Handicap Doubles, Mrs. Collins and Miss Hall. The committee have to thank the ladies who so kiudh provided afternoon tea during the season, and also the ladies' committee, who greatly assisted in entertaining the visitors; Mrs. Penn acted as hon. secretary of the ladies' tennis commit tee; and Mrs. C. T. Mills as hon. secretary of the croquet committee during the past season. The committee have pleasure in thanking these ladies on behalf of the club. The club's annual dance was held on May 6, and was a most successful gathering. Mr. J. Morton acted as hon. secretary; the profit resulting was £5 Gs. The retiring mem bers of the committee are Messrs. J. Morton, J. C. Nicholson, H. Stow and C. H. Weston.
