ANNUAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the Baptist Union Conference today the following resolution touching the gambling evil was passed: "That this " assembly express the earnest hope that ; the Gaming Bill now before the House { will be so amended as to absolutely pro- , liibit, under heavy penalties, the operation of bookmakers at all race meetings, ' both totalisator and not totalisator, and at all sports gatherings. Axelson (Moderator of the Presbytery) extended cordial greetings tQ delegates of the Conference. Sunday School work occupied the afternoon. Papers on the subject were read by the Rev. Howard Elliot and the Rev. F. McDonald. > The Rev. R. S. Gray (Christchurch)' was appointed the Union's special representative at the Baptist World's Confer; ence at Philadelphia in 1911, and the .<? Carson (Wanganui) submitted a report concerning grants to churches.'
