The Chronicle (Liberal) says there is little hope in political circles of the agreement of the Veto Conference. The 'Morning Post (Conservative)" regrets that there is no alternative for Mr. Asquith's 'Ministry but to go on with their proposals till the Unionist leaders know their own minds. The Standard (Conservative) denounces Mr. Balfour's inexplicable silence on Imperial defence. THE OSBORNE JUDGMENT. London October 6. . Mr. Barnes, chairman of the Labor Party, speaking at Manchester, said that if the Government would give facilities for the discussion of the Osborne judgment in the autumn session and pledge itself to introduce a Bill after the election, he did not see why the Labor Party should not pledge themselves to act with the Government pendingits passage.
