WRECKED CARNARVON BAY.
FINDING OF THE ENQUIRY. By Csbie —Press Association —Copyright. Received 7, 9.30 p.m. Melbourne, October 7. The Court of Enquiry into the wreck •f the Carnarvon Bay found that the course taken by the captain was justified, but that the ship was not navigated in a careful and seamanlike manner from the time King Island was sighted. There was not an efficient look-out kept, the steersman steering by the land. The loss of the vessel was due to striking a reef or rock, but there was insufficient evidence to show whether the rock was charted. It was decided to call the Tasmanian Government's attention to the possibility of the existence of an unoharted rock. Received October 8, 1 a.m. Sydney. Last Night. The Marine Board have decided to take no farther action in regard to the wreck of the Carnarvon Bay.
