A DEFICIENCY OF £SOO, x By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At Milton to-dav. Arthur Spencer Browne, who was until recently elerk to the Bruce County Council, was charged with having omitted to enter as a receipt in the Council's cash hook the sum of €2O, with intent to defraud. Evidence was given that a man sent accused a cheque for payment of rates. Accused paid the cheque into the Bank, but did not make an entry in the hooks. He was also charged wilh failing to enter in the books a sum of X.7 lfls received as contractors' deposits. Accused pleaded guilty to both charges and was committed for sentence. It was stated that the total deficiency was over £SOO.
