TARATA. (Prom Our,(Own Correspondent.) The social inaugurated by the Tarataj Hall Company's committee was well attended on Thursday evening last. Num-| erous visitors were-present from Ingle-,' wood, Purangi and Matau. For dancing, which was the main source of amuse-, ment, the floor was in splendid order, and Mrs. A. George's orchestra provided (as they, always do) excellent music. I The-prasramme was opened by the Misses <M. and C. Paterson, who gave aj pianoforte duet in a very pleasing man-' ner. A waltz played by the orchestral followed. Mr. John Paterson, our cap-, able M.C., by assiduous attention to his duties and a judiciously arranged programme, coupled with the evident intention of everyone present to have an en-, joyable evening) soon had things going at "top," whjch standard of enjoyment was well maintained until, well' into the morning 'hour's. , Songs were contributed during the evening by Miss Litehwark, Mr. Walter Matthews and Master D. Paterson, Mrs. A.' George and Miss Paterson playing the accompaniments. The ladies of the district responded liberally to the call to provide* Supper was handed round during an interval. The Misses C. I Paterson and Fengere and Mr. Johnson } played "extras." Before breaking up, Mr. • F. J. Virgia,,;on.:behalf of the committee, thanked all .'present, who, by their presence there that evening were helping them to effect the necessary improvement to the half .building, also those who had , contributed, songs, and especially Mrs. A.
