Wellington, October 3. Following is the High Commissioner's cabled market report under date London, October 1, 1910. (Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton.—The market remains firm, and stocks are firmly held in few hands. There is less demand, and high prices are restricting business in the mutton market. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 4i4d, North Island 4d. Lamb. The market is /firm with small supply. Demand is falling off, as the season is ending. The average price to-day for New Zealand lamb (Canterbury) is 5%d; other than Canterbury sy g d. Beef. —The market is quiet, but rather steadier. The stock is iheavy. The average price to-day for New Zealand beef is: Hindquarters 3d, forequa-rters 2%d. Butter. The market is firm, with small supply. Demand is falling off, as the season is ending. The average price to-day for New Zealand lamb (Canterbury) is 5%d; other than Canterbury si/ B d. „ , ■ Butter. The market is quiet, but firm for best quality. Buyers are cautious. New Zealand 115s (nominal), Victorian 115s, Danish IIGs, Siberian 105s. Cheese.—The market is quieter ana business dull with no change in prices. Hemp. New Zealand good fair, on spot, per ton £24 10s, fair grade £.21 10s, fair current Manila on spot per ton £2l. Output of Manila for the week 34,000 bales. Kauri Gum,—The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Ordinary to fair threequarters scraped £8 10s, fair half scraped £5 ss, brown fair Ijalf to threequarters scraped 90s, brown pickings, common to good, 455, bush fair to good pale and amber scraped £8 15s. x ~ Wool.—The market is firm at the advance.
