SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS

MONTHLY MEETING, At the meeting of the School Commissioners on Friday there were present: Messrs. Wade (chairman), Simoson and Morton. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs. Okey, M.P., advised that the Minister for Education had undertaken to introduce legislation "with a view to removal of the present anomaly. The treasurer reported a balance of £1232 15s 6d as on the 9th inst., ana on the motion of Messrs. Morton and Simpson he was authorised to pay out £9OO on account of primary education, and £IOO on secondary account. The Board declined to agree to a request that a renewal head lease might be executed now, in order to permit of the registration of an overlapping sublease. The chairman reported that complaint had been made of furze on one

of the Board's reserves, and the secretary was instructed to write to the lessee. The secretary reported that an unauthorised person ihad entered upon' one of the board's reserves within the borough of New Plymouth, and had chopped down about a dozen pine trees, with the object of affording more light, to a recently-built house on an adjacent section. On the motion of Messrs. Simpson and Morton, it was deckled to consider the question of proceeding against the offender at the next meeting of the board, and that in the meantime the person known to have committed the trespass be afforded an opportunity of offering an explanation.
