STRATFORD DAY BY DAY
(Prom Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night.' The Bulb Show yesterday was responsible for some very fine collections of blooms'. Though there are many who refer to the climate in unkind terms, the fact nevertheless remains that Stratford has many gardeners who can bold their own against the Dominion, The well-kept gardens are -ahvays a. notable point to the visitor. Mr. E. A. Osmond, who only a few weeks ago carried oft the premier honors at Hawera, exhibited a magnificent collection of daffodils, a-nd another prominent exhibitor was Dr. Carbery. The chief trophy of the show, the Daffodil Cup, was won by Mr. R. Gibson, of Riverlea, this being tihe second successive year he has carried off the prize. Two offenders against tihe borough by-laws, their offence being riding bicycle's along the footpaths,, appeared before the Magistrate this morning, ana were fined 5s and costs. Anglers are preparing for the opening of the season. From -all accounts' the streams promise good sport. The demand for town properties still continues, and several offers have been made during the past few days for sections in Broadway, and declined. The funeral of the late Mr. J. Irvine will be held on Sunday. At the Kahouri Bridge Church on Thursday Mr. A. C. Thomas, of New Lynn, Auckland, was married to Miss Elsie WelmhuirS't.
