TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Lawn Tennis Association was held on Wednesday evening, when there were present: Messrs. F. S. Johns (in the chair), J. C, Nicholson, W. <H. Broome, F. J. Easther, H. u Stocker and j 1 ! Jaton. The, annual report and balance-sheet, which was adopted, showed «, credit balance of £l7 2s Id, which was considered exceedingly satisfactory. There are now fifteen clubs belonging to the; Association, being an increase of three.' Slazanger bals will be used at thej annual championship tournament. Miss J Bowdrell again won the Ney Zealand ! ladies'; champion, ; and the . Associa-? tion has every reason to be proud of (■her. Miss Powdrellfalso New. South-: Wales; championship, on against Australia. The inter-' provincial contest between Auckland and Taranaki was playecLat Auckland, and resulted in a lor Auckland, It had been <resolved to play the inter; provincial match against! "Auckland on] the third Saturday in February in fu:| ture. A movement- was started last year to have a series of inter-club [matches arranged amongst the' Torainaki clubs. If this is gone on with a [round should be played off'early in Dettmber. The report concludes: "It w;is3 with sincere regret that we re-. cdved notice of the rsignation of Mr. G. N. Goldie as secretary of the New Zt aland Lawm Tennis Association. The services of Mr. Goldie have always been of gitat assistance to the Association.'.' The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—'President, Dr. H. B. Leathern (re-elected); vice-presi-dents, the presidents of the affiliated ch.le; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. P&ion (re-elected); auditor, Mr. W. C, W«*Con (re-elected). It was decided that Messrs. Weir, Hume, Young, Swanson and Denniskn be re-appointed the Association's de'egates on the New Zealand Associatio.i.
Th# question of, the Association's representation on the New ZeaJiand Asso-' ciation was fully discussed. Eventually! it was decided to leave the matterin the hands of a sub-committee consisting of Messrs. J. Paton, H. Stocker and| F. S. Johns.
