•SUPPOSED TO HAVE GONE OVER. 'BOARD. Constable Rowlands, who wu oi duty at the Breakwater yesterday; morning, was informed by Captain Nor* (bury, of the Rarawa, that a passenger was reported to be missing from the fore-cabin of the vessel. It is supposed ' that the anon fell overboard, but theife is nothing definite, except that he wat seen in his bunk by the fore-cabin steward about midnight. When the lafc ter rose about five o'clock the mail bad gone. He searched the ibunk, and found under the pillow a purse containingfiva shillings in silver, receipts addressed to Jos' ;>h Thompson, haw a bottie of whi&.,y, a slouch hat, and a chequebook with butts drawn on the Bank oil New Zealand at Hamilton, disclosing that he was a man in good circum* stances. The missing man was about 15 OS 60 years of nge, about six feet is height, of medium build, and of falc complexion. It appears that Thompson had a tad bout of seasickness, though the sea was comparatively smooth. The police believe ho belonged to Puniho, whew he milked on shares for a number of sea* sons with Messrs Greenaway ; Bros. Thompson left with his wife and grownup family in July last for MorrLosville,, where he purchased a farm, intending to milk this season. His trip was probably connected with the purchase of stock, for it is (known that he intended to buy Taranaki cows. He 'has a relation at Pungarehu in the person of Mr. T. Harvey. Thompson was a Canterbury man, living for a number of years at Rangdora, where he was much respected, as he was along the Taranaki coast. » ,
