The revenue is a record, being 0.3 per cent, above the previous year. Passenger traffic has increased 43 per cent, in six years. The expenditure includes £75,000, the expenses of the Riclhimond disaster, and £170,000 to replace rolling stock. The Newcastle strike cost the Department £€o,ooo.
