THE SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE
SUPPORT LOCAL INDUSTRY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. At to-day's sitting of tihe Seamen's Conference Council, the following resolution was passed unanimously;—" That this council is surprised at' the unpatriotic attitude of the Auckland 1 Chamber of Commerce, led by Mr J Gunson, which 'has publicly advocated subsidising a foreign-owned mail service between America and the Dominion, where there ore' local companies quite prepared to undertake the service, the requirements of which in the shage of crews, coal, stores, 'and other necessaries, would be drawn from the idsources of the Dominion, thereby employing ouir own people and deriving all tihe advantages of .the subsidies granted by the Dominion to this service, in addition to strengthening those bonds of the Empire wthich the community is desirous of fostering,"
