CHARGE OF INCENDIARISM
A YOUTH ARRESTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dmnedin, Last Night. George Ernest Tapp, aged about 18 years, was arrested by Detective Ward this afternoon on a charge that he did on sth irist. at Ravensbourne set fire to a building the property of Edward Crosland. Tlhe fire broke out in Crosland's i bakery, in which the young man was employed. He waa the only one on the premises, and he extinguished the fire. A sack saturated with kerosene was found by Tapp under the floor, and it was about a quarter burnt through, and there was a bottle containing kerosene near by. Mr. Graham, coroner, held an enquiry to-day into the circumstances connected with the fire, and returned a verdict—"That the place waa wilfully set on fire by Tapp," as a resiilt of which Detective Ward, wiho conducted the enquiry, immediately arresited ihim. • Accused was (brought up in the Police Court, and remanded until Wednesday week, toil being allowed accused in his own recognisance of £l5O and two sureties of £75 each.
