A COMPENSATION CLAIM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wauganui, Saturday. Judge Edwards, at the Supreme Court this morning, gave judgment for £13,000 in the claim for £21,046 made by the Bank of Australasia against the Minister for Public Works in connection with the State acquiring the Bank of Australasia's site for post office purposes. No costs were awarded. A PECULIAR CASE. , * Auckland, Saturday. At the Police Court, a young man named Thomas Duffy was charged with obtaining valuable consideration for the goodwill of a business by falsely representing certain promissory notes as genuine. It is alleged that Duffy bought the goodwill of a business in Wellington from another man for £l4O. He paid £7O cash, giving a promissory note for the balance. Then he sold the business to another purchaser. Accused was remanded to Wellington. WORKERS' COMPENSATION. G-reymouth, Saturday. Indignation meetings have been held by many labor organisations protesting against the domicile clause in the Workers' Compensation Act. ENTERED BY BURGLARS. Greymouth, Saturday. During the night the premises of H. W. Lloyd, of Mawhera Quay, were entered by burglars, the steel bar protecting the doors being cut through. The window was depleted of everything portable, and the amount of booty is roughly estimated at £3OO.
