THE SAVARKAR CASE
EXTRADITION WAIVED. i-i -. •' By C^ble.—Press Association.—Copyright London, September 22. France has waived the question of the extradition of Sawrkar. Savarkar, an Indian, was changed in London with conspiracy against the Government of India and was shipped to India for trial. While the boat was at Marseilles the prisoner escaped through a porthole into the sea, and was captured by a gendarme when he landed on the wharf and handed over to the British policemen who had raised cries of "Stop thief!" French Socialists urged that as 6a-, varkar was a political prisoner he should not have been handed over when once on French soil. In the meantime he had been taken on to India and tried, and the French Government is apparetly willing to let the matter slide.
