APIARISTS IN CONFERENCE.
PROPOSED EXPORT TRADE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. Messrs. Shaw and Warcup, representing the conference of aparists, which ha-s just been completed in Wellington, interviewed the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. T. Mackenzie) to lay before him certain resolutions already published. A particularly interesting point touched upon was the prospect of an export trade in honey being built up. Th " deputation stated that aparists were hoping to build up an export trade, and grading would then be desirable. Honey which had already been sent Home had not done well, for some had been gent which was unfit for the market. Grading would atop this from being repeated. The Minister stated he would place before the Minister of Railways the proposals regarding reclassification of railway rates. He agreed it was desirable to have all New Zealand produce graded aawl sold upon a grader's certificate. It was almost impossible to alter London charges, especially as the output of honey was not large. As for the suggested appointment of additional inspectors, there was a cry for economy in Government departments, which ought not to be supported by those engaged in primary industries. The expenses in connection with the Agricultural Department had been cut down as much as thev ought to be. He congratulated the bee-keepers upon getting together and focussing their views, which would receive sympathetic attention.
