UNFAVORABLE REPORTS. EDISON COMPANY TO REPLY. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Might. _ A few weeks ago the Chronicle published a letter from Mr. Frank L. Dyer, vice-president of the Edison Storage Battery Company, in reply to an enquiry, in which it was stated that Edison's storage battery was an approved success and was destined to revolutionise all motor traffic, including tramways.

Mr. M. R. Creagh, of Auckland, consulting engineer to the Gonville Castleclilf Irani way Board, was asked to report on the matter, and his Report was to the effect that the battery was unsuitable for tramway purposes. ■ He stated various objections in support of his opinion.

About the same time, Mr. Symington, engineer to the Invercargill Borough Council, reported to the same effect. Both reports were forwarded to America, and the Chronicle to-day received a cable stating the objections of the colonial engineers were unsound, and that a report covering the objections raised was bein® forwarded by mail. The cable advises Aew Zealand municipalities to await the leport before jumping to hasty conclusions. y
