MONTHLY MEETING. ' ! The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held yesterday. Pressent: The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mr. P. Simpson, in the chair, Messrs. J. Heslop, W. M. Kennedy, J. Rattei-i bury, and J. MeCluggagfe. TRANSFERS. I ! F. Williams waited on the Board with reference to his application to transfer, sec. 23, blk 15, Aria, to W. A. Carter. He stated that he was unable to sell to anyone except a neighbour, as the J section was too small. It was necessary l for the state of his wife's health that she should reside near medical aid. Mr., Carter was also present.—The matter! was dealt with in committee. j T. Hastie waited on the Board in sup-j port of his application to transfer sec-j tions 11 and 12, blk 13, Mahoe, sections 9, 10, 12, 13, and 14, blk 1, Taurakawa,' to, H. T. F. Flyger, and of his wife, J. E. Hastie to transfer sections 21, 22, blk 16, Ngatimaru, and section 20, blk 13, Mahoe, to the same person. Mr. Flyger was also present.-r-The Board went into committee. D. Love interviewed the Board in support of an application by F. Bloomfield to transfer sec 4, blk 8, phura, to him. —The Board dealt \yitk the i matter in committee. W. G. Fargie waited on ; the Board in regard to the application by,W. Telfor to transfer see 4, blk- 1,4, .Aria, t«) Mrs. A. C. S. Fargie.. He./stated.-that his wife was prepared to reside as soon as a suitable house could be erected. He undertook to dispose of' his Whanga- : momona property as soon as, it was possible to do so.—Taken in committee. T. A. Randolph interviewed the Board • in reference to his application to trans- j fer a half interest in. : . : sec 4, blk 12, Omona, to John McLeod, instead of sub- ; letting to him, as originally intended. ; He was in business at Utiku, and had < been trying to dispose of his interest ; for some time. —Taken in committee. i; The Commissioner submitted a memor- ; andum of transfer, C. Hodgkinson to W. , J. and F. W. Simpson, showing an increase in the amount of the consideration since the transfer was before the Board. —Agreed to. FORFEITURE RE-CONSIDERED. Mr. J. B. Roy waited on the Board with regard to the notice given to H. TJ. Joll 'to show cause why his interest in ' sec 15, blkß, and sec 31, blk 9, Mimi, should not be forfeited for not having . effected the necessary improvements.— Resolved that upon a feworn declaration being made by Mr. Joll showing that the requirements have been complied! with, the Board J %ttrß®aw---4fie' notice of forfeiture. | A MISUtfDte^ANfilNG. ' j THE FREEHOLD. The following applied to convert their, O.R.P. leases to freehold: —W. F. Hodge, sec 9, blk 14, Pouatu; F. E. H. King, sec 1, blk 8, Omona, S. W. King, sec 4, blk 7, Omona; W. H. H. The Commissioner reported on the state of sec 30, blk 11, Ofmnake, the licensee of which was at present an inmate of a mental hospital in Sydney.— Resolved, that the section be declared forfeited for non-payment of rent. j ! The proposals of the following local bodies for expenditure of accrued thirds were adopted, subject to the rangers' reports:—Eltham County Council, £l27t> 3s 8d; Tataramaika Road Board, £26 4s 9d; Waiwakaiho Road Board, £l2 3s 4d; Oakura Road Board, £44 17s 4d. HUIAKAMA POUND. The Whangamomona County Council wrote with reference to acquiring sections 43 and 46, Huiakama .village, as a site for a public pound—The Government will be recommended to dispose oi the land to the council for the purpose stated under sec. 140 of the Land Act, 1908, at a price of £25 for the land and £IOO for the house. GENERAL. T. Aston wrote that the area taken from sec 21, blk 12,,Mapara, would deprive him of the only building site on the holding, and also "the water supply. —The Commissioner's proposals for dealing with'the matter were approved. W. H. Sproull asked if he would be allowed to effect all required improvements for sec 2, blk 8, Omona, on the adjoining section 1, blk 12, Omona, and, if he applied to transfer whether the improvements must. be effected. —The Board decided to adhere to its previous decision. The Commissioner submitted reports from the ranger upon the occupation ol se" i"'. blk 12, Mapara, by T. A. I. Lee, and sec 11, blk 11, Mapara, by D. J. T. Cv ,—Resolved, that the interest ot Leo bo forfeited, and that the interest of Creech be forfeited in the event of his not having effected any appreciable improvements. . Correspondence with regard to sec 3, blk 15, and sec 2, blk 16. Ohura, held by J. and R. Morris,,who are not complying with the conditions' of personal residence, was* submitted. —Consideration deferred for the present. F. A. Harrison applied for a re-hear-ing of the forfeiture of sec 20, blk 5, Ohura. He waited on the Board in support of the application—The Board saw no reason to alter its former decisionCarried. ... T. H. Robinson wrote stating why, m his opinion, his interest in sec 8, blk 11, Mapara, should not have been forfeited. •—Previous decision adhered to. R. G. Brookes' application for a year-to-year tenancy of sec 29, blk 15, Aria, was deferred for further enquiry. H. T. Twiss' report on sections' in the town of Whangamomona was adopted, and the sections will be offered for sale by public auction for cash. 'The Board postponed till next meeting its consideration of the report of the ranker on improvements on sections 6 and" 7, blk 11, Pouatu, held by J. C. Havre. . . ■ E Tohne, ranger, reported on the inspection of forty holdings, comprising an area of 21(138 acres; requirements, £ 14,(135; improvements effected, £23,701. Six were non-resident, and ten had not effected sufficient improvements.— Notice will be sent to selectors who have not complied.
