WESTRALIA'S PREMIER RETIRES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Perth, September 16. Sir Newton Moore, Premier, announced in l the Assembly his intention to resign the Premiership on the ground of ill-health. Until a few weeks ago he intended, to lead the party, but the doctors insisted that he must relax the strain without delay. He proposed to remain a' private member, and.after a ibrief period of rest he would probably be able to occupy a more prominent position. The Leader of the Opposition expressed regret at Mr. Moore's retirement. The Assembly has adjourned for a fortnight. Received September MS, 10;30 p.m. Perth, September 16. Sir Newton Moore has handed in his resignation, and Mr. Frank Wilson, Commissioner of Works, has been sent for.
Lieutenant-ColoneL Sir Newton James Moore was born in 1870. He was educated at Adelaide, and- has been in the Western Australian " Parliament since 1004, and Premier -since 1905. He is in command of the 18th Regiment Australian Light Horse. He recently visited England, and notably advertised the advantages of Australia.
