Saturday last we had a good entry of poultry, the majority being prize and pure-toed birds. Bidding throughout was very brisk, showing a keen demand for all classes of birds. Two noticeable prices obtained were 22s for a trio of Buff. Orpingtons, and Is each for three days old ducklings. Other prices were as follows: Cockerels (table): 2s to2s Bd, (poor) la 7d to Is lOd; B.L. .cockerels, 3s 3d; white Plymouth Rock cockerels, 8s; white Leghorn cock, 3s Id;: hens, laying 3s Id, old 20s to 2s Id; Red Game Cockerel, 2s 9d; White Leghorn pullets, 3s; ducks, 2s 8d to 2s Sd. In the mart a large quantity of sundries, fruit, trees and furniture were disposed of. ... Motor Car. Considerable interest was shown in this sale by the public, and bidding was brisk right through, the car eventually being sold under thej hammer at £155. | Fruit.—This has been in rather small supply this week. Sydney fruit is now at a prohibitive price. We quote Sturmers at 9s 6d to 10s 6d; Rokewoods, IIb; Commerce lis; oranges, 13s 6d to 15s 6d; bananas,'27s 8d; walnuts, 6d; peanuts, 2%d; N.Z. lemons, 4s 9d per 40 lb. case; Poor Man's oranges, 4s 6d.
