BACON FACTORY BURNED. B.' Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Thursday. The Okitu bacon factory, owned by Mr. W. D. Lysnar, was destroyed by Are last night. The insurances werp £3OO on the building and £2OO on the machinery in the Royal Exchange office. The loss is fully £BOO over that amount. PUMPING GEAR DESTROYED. Auckland, Last Night. _ A fire occurred at Karangahake this afternoon, when, what is known «s "Old Woodstock Battery," in which was housed part of the Talisman air compressing plant, was totally destroyed. The attorney of the Talisman Company states that temporary but serious stoppage of mining operations is imperative. The stoppage of pumping meant, he said, that the water would rise to No. 12 level.
