YOUNG EGYPTIAN CONGRESS
YOUNG EGYPTIAN CONGRESS... ... AND KEIR HARDIE'S RAVINGS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received' September 16, 1.30 a.m. Geneva, September 16. The Young Egyptian Congress demanded the immediate British evacuation of Egypt and urged the Khedive to reestablish the constitution. Mahomed Fahmy presided and appealed to Europe for support. Keir Hardie sympathised with the speech, and urged Egyptians to unite to educate their, own people in order to win their independence. Keir Hardie said, "We must discountenance all tendency to crime and outrage, and follow constitutional lines." He advocated the autonomy of Egypt. It was outrageous to assert that Egyptians were unable to perform voters' duties Turks. He added it was maintained only in the interests of landowners and capitalists. Sir E. Grey's statement that the occupation was permanent, sullied Britain's honor in the eyes of the world.
