A timber truck was stand-' ing at an embankment, when an engine j [struck it violently, knocking it off thej line. The truck ploughed up the perma-] jnent way for forty yards and, turning j at right-angles, struck the Staw<4l| [train, smashing a carriage. The truck j j collapsed. There was great excitement,: but nobody was injured. i FLOODS IN VICTORIA. Melbourne, September 10. i There are floods in the Nathalia d:s-| trict. Many farms on which crops were destroyed last year, are again submerged. DREADNOUGHT FUND. Melbourne, September in. The Federal Minister has approved of the arrangement to spT.d ihirtyfive to forty thousand ste-lina of thsj Dreadnought Fund on a naval -qollege at Sydney. It is estimated that ihe Dreadnought Committee will' have £50,000 for a rural training co'lege for English youths, enabling them to handle 150 youths annually.
