■ THE LADY CHAMPIONS. Palinerston North, Last Night. The Manawatu Club ladies' golf meeting was concluded; at Hokowhitu to-day in delightful weather. The great attrac-. tion was the final for the Manawatu championship, which many expected would see a reversal of the New Zealand championship final. 1 Miss Wrav held the record for the course, namely 85 on 84 par, and had put up the best round ait the meeting, viz., 88 in qualifying for the championship against Miss Collins' 98. There was a large crowd following. Miss Collins began and continued very coolly, hut her opponent was nervous, and her short game, usually remarkably good', failed her. At the seventh hole

the new Zealand champion was 4 up, and turned with the same balance. The tenth was the first hole to 20 to Miss Wray. At the eleventh, Miss Wray was nine inches from the hole, with a stroke to the good, when Miss Collins laid her stymie. Miss Wray lobbed over, bint struck the rim and stayed out. The eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth were halved, though Mis?. Wray had two strokes to the good on the latter igreen. Similar failures on the next two greens by Miss Wray left Miss Collins 4 up and 3, and with her four successive championship won. The Second Medal Handicap was won by Miss Green (Otago), fifi—ll—Bs. Miss Sybil Abraham (8L) and Miss McLennan (SO) were disqualified through having played each other's balls.
