News has been received in Wellington of the recent decision of the British Earthenware Manufacturers' Association to raise the price of its goods. Earthenware is to be raised in price bv 8 1-3 per cent, and china by 5 per 'cent. The reason given for the advance is that, owing to steps that now have to be taken to safeguard the health ot workers in pottery, under the recent legislation, the cost of manufacture has been correspondingly increased. U » therefore passed on to the consuming public.
