ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. By Telegra ph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Tuesday. A man, whose name is at present unknown, attempted suicide in the Square this morning by cutting his th'roat with a razor. Last night he helped himself to a bedroom at the. Grand Hotel, but was discovered by the porter when attempting to leave the hotel premises this morning. Information waß given to the police, and the attempt at suicide was made when the man was being brought back by the- police to the hotel to have the matter investigated. Only a flesh wound was inflicted, and no serious results are anticipated. FATALLY INJURED. Hastings, Tuesday. Francis George Rolls, 39 years of age,' a married man, died in a private hospital this morning as the result of injuries to his spine, received in a fall from a dray last Friday. He leaves j seven young children. SUDDEN DEATH. Masterton, Last Night. A man named Henry Stanhop':, aged 68, employed as a hairdresser by Mr. C. Corbett, "died suddenly to-day, presumably from heart disease. He was work, ing in the saloon till midday. Stanhope was a widower, and came from Sydney a few months back.
