MR. J. C. WILLIAMSON'S NEW ENGLISH FARCE COMEDY COY. "THE BRASS BOTTLE." On Monday next, September 12, Mr. J. C. Williamson will, for one night only, present his new English Comedy Company in the great 'London farcical play, ''The Brass Bottle." "The Brass Bottle" is by F. A. Anstey, the famous editor of London Punch. It. is described as being the most humorons farce-comedy seen for many years. The company that will interpret it here is identical with that which ihas been instrumental in making the piece so successful in England. Apart from the author and the actors, "The Brass Bottle," a farcical comedy that has for the past twelve months drawn all London to the Vaudeville Theatre, depends in a great degree for its effectiveness upon the scenic manipulation and the smartness of the stage management. The changes developed while the released Jinnee is performing his feats as a magician after an imprisonment of 3000 years in a sealed brass bottle are described as wonderful, and the acme of up-to-date stagecraft, Says the Sydney Evening News: "The manner of the Jinnee's entrance gave the audience its first thrill. From out of an old brass bottle purchased at an auction sale by a young London architect, he apparently leaps into view, as a sharp explosion, followed by a quick darkening of the stage for a second or two to secure the necessary illusion occurs. It is from this point in the story that the mirth begins. To thoroughly appreciate 'The Brass Bottle' one must be prepared to accept' farcical comedy at its wildest. Anstey has written many whimsical and clever things. It is said, however, that 'The Brass Bottle' is the smartest and most original of them all." The construction of the play is said to be exceptionally clever. The mechanical effects are bewildering, and the many extraordinary illusions that enable "Thfe Jinnee of the Green Jinn" to perform his wonders would puzzle the most celebrated of modern magicians. In Fak-rash-el-Amash is no ordinary figure. He is as full of suprises as a conjuror, and the merriment he contrives even out of terror in its comic effect is merriment provoked ;by frolic in its fair sport and extravagance. The box plan will ibe opened at Collier's piano depot on Thursday next, September 8.
