LOCK-OUT OF BOILERMAKERS. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright London, Septfe/nber 2. The outcome of the dispute between Newcastle riveters and the Shipbuilding Employers' Federation is that the latter has notified that there will be a national lock-out to-morrow of 15,000 boilermakers. It is expected this will result in 70,000 men being rendered idle until the Boilermakers' Society jjuarr.iuees that the national agreement to p.avent stoppages will be fulfilled. . BOILERMAKERS; LACK DISCIPLINE. Received September 4, 5.30 p.m. London, September 3. Riveters of vessels built on the Isht>rwood system contended that longitudinal framing meant harder work, and that the usual piecework scales yielded an insufficient wage. Pending the preparation of permanent conditions, the Employers' Federation and Boilermakers' executive signed a provisional agreement' last week. Riveters this week repudiated it. PERTH TRAMWAY STRIKE. Perth, September 3. The strike continues- A deputation asked the • Premier to nationalise the tramways. Another tram cable was cut on Saturday, seriously delaying the traffic.
NINE MONTHS' STRKE ENDS. Received September 4, 5.30 p.m. New York, September ?>. After a nine months' strike, 70 000 clothing makers resumed work in New York. Ten thousand families of strik-' ers were on the point of eviction from their homes. ; WIN FOR OPERATIVES. Received September 5, 12.30 a.m. New York, September 4. The clothing strikers practically secured their demand, including a nine hours' day.
