CONTAGIOUS DISEASES
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS t IMPRACTICABLE. . By Telegraph.—Press Association. " Dunedin, Last Night. Several medical men, interviewed today, declared that Dr. Findlay's proposed' amendments to the Public Health Act were admirable in theory, but unworkable in practice. Doctors would not report cases"- under compulsion, as in some cases much trou'ble might arise. They would, however, agree that cases should! be reported at the discretion of medical' men*, sucfh cases being where those . suffering from contagious diseases failed to adopt curative or isolating measures on the instruction of a doctor.
Druggists also said that all such case® did not come to shops. Many persons had prescriptions, and ingredients could be obtained, without detection, separately, at different shops. All agreed that compulsion would throw the treatment of such diseases into hands of an undesirable class.
