Mr. A. Morton has been re-elected chairman of the Taranaki Freezing Works Co. Mr. Telford, of the local branch of the Bank of Australasia, has been transferred to Auckland, and leaves by tonight's boat. A London cable says that Colonel Richard Hutton Davies, C.8., late In-spector-General of the New Zealand Forces, has been appointed to the command of the Sixth Infantry Brigade. Mr. W. MTi. Kennedy, who has just been re-elected a member of the Taranaki Education Board, entertained the Board and staff and local press representatives to lunch yesterday. Mr. D. Taylor has been appointed ft member of the York school committee in place of Mr. C. D. Erps, resigned; and Messrs. A. Eeid and J. Kemp to Pembroke committee, in place of Messrs. H. Fea.kins and G. Hall, resigned. Mr. A. H. Amoore has resigned his j position as teacher of the Tataramaika School. He is retiring from the teaching profession after 33 years service, seven- . teen of which have been in the cmploy of the Taranaki Education Board. It is reported that Ben Viljoen, who was one of the Boer leaders during the South African war, and who is now farming at El Paso, in Texas, will fil the portfolio of Minister of Native Affairs in the Union Government, South Africa. Writes a London correspondent:—- ' Mrs. Cornwall (Auckland) has been staying at Farmborough with her son-in-law, Colonel R. H. Davies, InspectorGeneral of the New Zealand Forces. A' round of visits in Tunbridge Wells, Bath, Bournemouth, has followed, and Scotland and Ireland are to be visited prior to Mrs. Cornwall's return about October, in the s.s. Kaipara. A Press Association message states thaC certain changes are made in the New Zealand Supreme Court offfee staffs in consequence of the vacancy recently caused at Cliristchurch. Mr. A. Stubbs, deputy registrar at has ibeen promoted to the position of' registrar at Dunedin, and this changehas necessitated a rearrangement of «the Wellington staff.. Mr. E. D. H. Stocker, clerk in the Wellington office has been promoted to be deputy to~ gistrar at Mr. G.*S. CParfce, of the Auckland office, has been transferred to Wellington. Mr. R. M. Goldsman, of Wellington, has been notifleli of his transfer to Auckland, and'' Mr, G. G. Bell, of Christchurch, comes Wellington as cadet.
