HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. Following is the High Commissioner's cable under date London, August 27. Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot: — Mutton.—The market is steady and prices well maintained. Canterbury to-day 3%d, North Island 3y 2 d. Lamb.—The market is quiet but firm. Canterbury sd, other than Canterbury 4%d. Beef—The market is a shade weaker. New Zealand hinds 3%d, fores 2%d. I Butter.—The market is firm, with more inquiry. Danish 118s, Siberian 1065.~ : I Cheese.—The market is quiet but steady. New Zealand 57e 6d. Hemp.—The market is dull, with no change of prices. The output from Manila for the week was 29,000 bales. Expect no immediate change in the market. Cocksfoot Seed—There is better demand for New Zealand; bright clean, 171b to the bushel, 60s. Wheat.—The market is quiet. New Zealand long-berried, ex granary, per quarter of 4961b, 34s 6d; New Zealand short-berried, 33s 6d. Oats—The market is steady with fair business doing. New Zealand short sparrow bills, ex granary, per quarter of 3841b, 19s; New Zealand Danish, ex granary, per quarter of 3201b, lCs 9d. Beans.—The market is steady, with very good demand. New Zealand f.a.q. (new crop), per 5041b, 35s 6d. Peas—The market is firmer, with more demand. New Zealand (partridge), per 5041b, 445. Kauri Gum.—The market is firm, with an improved demand. Ordinary fair three-quarter scraped, 170s; fair half-scraped, 105s; brown, fair half to three-quarter scraped, 90s; brown pickings common to good, 455; bush, fair to good pale amber scraped, 1755.
