TARANAKI-WELLINGTON FOOTBALL MATCH.
To the Editor. Sir,—ln your report of tie above football match on Friday last, you state that only about £l6O was taken at the gates, which represents an attendance of under 3000 people, as those in the enclosure (some 200) were charged Is 6d. As an interested spectator at football matches, and also in your beautiful park, I say, without fear of contradiction, that there must have been between 5000 and 6000 persons present, and allowing for "deadheads" and children, the taking should have been at least £250. In conversation with a commercial man, who is used to seeing big crowds, and also Mr. Ardill, of acrobatic fame, both gentlemen stated that the smallness of your .figures surprised them.'—l am, etc.> v S. P. BROWN.
