THAMES DEFEATS AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Thames, Last Night. Thames defeated the Auckland rep. football team by 11 points (a goal from a try and two penalty goals) to nil. The game was closely contested. Thames forwards proved slightly superior to the Auckland pack, and the splendid tackling of the local team prevented Auckland's speedy backs from 'Scoring. As the Thames sub-union is under Auckland administration, the mateh could not be counted for the Ranfurly Shield.

PALMERSTON CHAMPIONSHIP, Palmerston North, Last Night. , The final for the Abraham Cup was played in heavy rain on Saturday, when Palmerston beat Old Boys by 6 points to 3. The score was 3 all when the ■whistle blew, but an extra twenty minutes was played, and IPalmerston scored the winning try on time. THE HIGH SCHOOLS COMPETITION. Palnierston N., Last Night. In the inter-High School tournament Palmerston (36) beat New Plymouth (5) aid won, the Poison Shield. WELLINGTON v . MARLBOROUGH. Wellington, Last Night. The representative Rugby match Wellington B v, Marlborough, played here to-day, resulted, unexpectedly in a win for Marlborough by 8 points to 6. The visitors had a sturdy lot of forwards w,ho, in spite of the wet and muddy ground, played a great game. Marlborough had the , advantage all through. Wellington obtained six points in the first spell, tries by Tyrell and Eliott. Marlborough responded ja the second half with a penalty goal by Mac Donald, and a try by Daly, converted by O'Brien.

WELLINGTON BEAT WANGANUI.

Wanganui, Last Night. .The Wanganui-Wellington rep, football match was played at Cook's Gardens on Saturday afternoon in the presence of a small number, of spectators. The game calls for little description, the visitors being greatly superior to the local team, whom they defeated by 24 points to 3. Wellington did not quite come up to expectations, but the local men played much below their usual standard, and were outclassed at all points, of the (game. Wellington's score was made up as follows: tries by Bruce, Dawson, Mitchinson (converted by himself), Perry (converted by Kinvig), Kinvig, Dawson (converted by Evenson). The Wanganui score consisted of a try by McDonald. OTAGO v. SOUTH CANTERBURY. Dunedin, Last Night. The Otago v. South Canterbury rep. match played here yesterday was witnessed by about 3500 persons. A fast and interesting game, in which most of the play was made by the forwards, ended in favour of Otago, the final score being Otago 14, South Canterbury 8. In the first spell Paton placed a penalty goal, and McDougall scored a try, Paton converting. The visitors equalised matters as a result of a try (unconverted) by M. Horgan, and a try by Wall, converted by Darroch. In the second spell the home team asserted itself, the forwards putting up ?. fine game. Paton kicked a penalty goal, and Mitchell scored a try, which was not converted.
