AUCKLAND SESSIONS.
By Telegraph.—Press Association: Auckland, Saturday. At the Supreme Court the Chief Justice declared four men habitual criminals and imposed sentences on the same [accused as follows: —F. J. Symons, theft and receiving stolen property, I four years; William John Parker, theft and breaking and entering, two charges, six and eighteen month's; William Scarboxo, breaking and entering, twelve months on each of two charges; Richard Hackett, false pretences, two years in addition to his present sentence. Other prisoners sentenced were: William Patrick Brophy, theft of money, two years; Thomas Goulton, breaking, entering and theft, eighteen months; John Munro Wrack, indecent assault at Whangarei, 15 months at Invercar'giU Gaol, the judge considering he really wanted hospital treatment.
COMPENSATION CASE. Dunedin, Last Night. In the compensation case Gilmour v. the Grown, a claim of £4OOO for land and water taken at Burnside in connection with the railway duplication wprks, the court to-day awarded the plaintiff £1859 and costs £l4O.
