FIRES.

AT PALMERSTON NORTH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston North, Friday. A fire broke out last night in a block of buildings in Main Street occupied by Flatt, photographer, Curtis, grocer, and the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Flatt's premises were gutted, as was the •centre of the building and Curtis's shop at the back, but the brigade, by good work, prevented what might have been a serious conflagration. Flatt was insured for £IOOO in the State office; Curtis had insurances on stock for €l5O and effects for ,t>2s in the Commercial Union. The Singer Sewing Machine Company was not insured, and its loss is principally due to smoke. If your property is not insured, call at or ring up the United Insurance Company. Ltd., Devon street. Telephone 198. Webster Bros, district agents. Insurances effected on the most favourable terms.—Advt.
