AMUSEMENTS
RECREATION GROUND ENTER- ! TAINMENT. There was a fair attendance at the Theatre Royal last evening when an 1 entertainment in aid of the funds of the Recreation Sports Ground was given. The first part of the programme con- ' sisted of the mirthful comedy "Browne with an E." The piece, which has been previously described, went with a swing, and each character was successfully portrayed. The other part of th§ programme was made up of well-rendered vocal numbers, as follows:—pianoforte solo, Miss Smith; song "Because," Mr. J. W. iHaslam; recitation, Miss Carte; song, "Thora," Mr. C. Archer (encore); song, "By the Fountain," Miss Fenton; song. ''l'll sing thee songs of Araby/' ).ir. 11. C. Nixon (encore). The accmii]'liniments were played by Misses Snjiili, M. Clarke, and Fenton. The concluding portion of the entertainment was a splendid exhibition of films put on by the Biograph Picture Co., whose orchestra also discoursed some enjoyable musical pieces. The piano used was a Brinsmead, kimdly lent by Messrs. Collier and Co. Mr. C; N. Johnson supplied the furnishings for the comedy scene.
